Can't We All Have Glamorous Dream Jobs??

Last week Oprah had a show focusing on a select few that hold their dream jobs... obviously to each their own - not everyone would consider each job a glamorous dream job. I have made it pretty clear that J Crew holds a special place in my heart - and the master mind behind it all is Jenna Lyon's who happens to be the Executive Creative Director. She was featured on Oprah's show - and may I just say I fell in love! We saw her with her family in her Brooklyn townhouse... which she had an entire bedroom dedicated to her closet - seriously - how do I get that?? We followed her throughout the day at J Crew - seeing the odds and ends of putting together the catalog, etc. The thing that fascinated me the most about her interview was that she started at the company at age 21 and hasn't stopped climbing the corporate ladder since!

Jenna wasn't the only fabulous peep to be spotlighted - there were a handful including the Cake Boss, florist, stunt woman, Internet Analyst and 'Wine Angels'. Most of the guests all had one common piece of advice to those still searching for their dream job - it's all about doing what you love! Which reminded me of a quote I used to have in my office (HR nerd - ha!) 'If you enjoy what you do, you will never work another day in your life'. - Confucius

Check out the video clip here if you missed the show!

One Month Countdown Begins...

Seriously thinking about switching to vodka as my cocktail of choice!
Cosabella even got in on it - SATC Collection by your favorite character!

Too many fabulous necklaces to choose from! Check them out - Dogeared - and the best part you ask... each necklace represents a favorite quote from the series and first movie! Obsessed!
LOVE!

Okay... so I warned you - as we get closer to the long anticipated opening of SATC 2 - you will most likely begin to get sick of my posts about the Manhattan quartet - because I simply can not wait for May 27th! Seriously... I have a slight problem - it is as if I feel like these lovely ladies are my real friends... and am awaiting their visit!

There are many promotions popping up everywhere as we near the opening date... seriously so many fun little goodies that the movie is teaming up with! I am not a vodka drinker (loyal to the Captain)... but how flipping cool are the Skyy bottles?? The fabulous, Patricia Fields, designed the themed bottle... ummm and did I mention that it is the first time Skyy has ever had a themed bottle?? Hewlett-Packard are even in line to get a piece of the pie. It is said that the HP laptops and desk tops will be seen throughout the movie to promote the new spring line of HP's meant to have a fashionable focus - some say the foursome is selling out - I say who cares as long as we keep getting to see their fabulosity!

Ps... I also read that ticket sales have also been booming already - Fandango has reported that SATC 2 ticket sales have been accounting for 20 percent of their daily sales - WHATTTT?? These peeps are on it!

Just Like Riding a Bike...

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend - mine was great! The Encinitas Street Fair was going on all weekend... Saturday the sun was shining... so we took advantage and biked from our house down to the crowds of peeps and spent the day sipping beers in the sun - the perfect day!

How I long for the days of college when sometimes it would be days before I strapped on a seat belt in my car! We had everything we needed at our finger tips... we either walked or rode our bikes everywhere - including class... those were the days :-) I had a quick trip down memory lane as the wind blew through my hair... oh how I miss the days of little responsibility!

Oh Mother Earth How We Love Thee...

Bahar Shahpar at BTC Elements

44 Knots at Green With Glamour (a portion of proceeds go to Surfrider Foundation)

Royal Blush Weber at Kaight (store located in NYC)

Shabd blouse at Bekina

Today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. The logic behind dedicating an entire calendar day to our beloved Mother Earth is to inspire awareness and of course appreciation for the environment around us...

There are so many websites that are devoted to eco friendly fashion and living. Heck even Saks has a department on their website called Saks Green House - which is dedicated to eco friendly brands! I picked a few of my favorite items from a selection of websites that are committed to offering green designers - check them out - you wont have to feel guilty for shopping knowing that you aren't leaving a carbon footprint behind :-) Seriously - who knew it was so easy to be green!

Piggys Going Green...

Mint Candy Apple - Essie (2009)
Jade - Chanel

Jade is the New Black - OPI

Go On Green - OPI

Most of my friends know that I LOVE nail polish - when I was working full time I made a visit to my nail salon once a week for not only a manicure but a pedicure too... I know I am crazy - I need both the fingers and piggys to match (and not to mention I love the foot massages!). Well since my retirement I have had to slap on the paint myself - so not as fun but is within my budget. That is one of the things I love about nail polish... it is an accessory all in itself... and anyone can partake - nail polish trends are uber affordable (there are some brands that are $.99) and doesn't revolve around size or age appropriateness - everyone can glam it up with nails!

So on this Earth Day Eve... I decided to share some of my favorite green shades... I for one am all for shocking colors... heck I had a soft yellow on for Easter in going with the theme of peeps!

Living Within Nature - Well Sort Of...

Don't you wish all of your light sockets had these adorable covers!

I for one love a good statement wall - how fun is this wallpaper??
Seriously?? Can I please have all of these lamp shades in my home?? Please!

Love these drapes! Would actually work well in my green home! Not only is Anthropologie's bedding yummy eye candy - it is also SO comfy - my bedding at my parent's house is from Anthro - so stinkin soft!

As most of you know my one stop shop for clothes or accessories is Anthropologie... well it is also my favorite place to browse for items for my home; however, I cant always afford everything... a girl can always dream cant she :-)

Well keeping in the theme for the week - Earth Day! I decided to pick out a couple of my favorite items that allow you to welcome the feel of nature within your home. These items made me feel like I was running through the doors of a secret garden (am I the only one that remembers that book??).

Enjoy!

Refreshing - Au Natural...

Jessica did the entire shoot with no make-up, air dried hair and no retouching!
Doesn't she look amazing??
Love her!
Kim did not allow any retouching to these photos - set to hit stands next week...
Brit released the untouched photos alongside her touched up ones for her Candies ad campaign...

There is buzz going around the celeb world about those choosing to jump on the au natural train - everyone from Jessica Simpson, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Demi Moore... to name a few are joining in this trend. They are not only doing photo shoots sans make-up, they are also saying no to retouching the pictures. I for one am all about the fresh, straight out of the shower look. On any given day you can catch me without make-up accompanied with wet hair. During the day I am not a fan of make-up... don't get me wrong if I have my party pants on and am going out on the town I definitely step it up... but I have never been much of a make-up kind of gal - maybe it is my Florida roots or southern Californian upbringing but I am just much more comfortable with my trusty face lotion and air dried locks...

It is oh so refreshing to see these ladies (some of the most scrutinized women in Hollywood for their looks and weight) be so comfortable in their skin.

Okay... today I was feeling the the color orange... maybe I am lacking vitamin C... or craving a mimosa not really sure but everything that I was drawn to this week was orange! - I feel like this color sort of gets a bad rap sometimes... but it is one of my favorite colors for every season... spring, summer and fall! Here are some orange-tastic items I found on Etsy this week!

Yes, Please!

I am the first to admit that I am sort of a snob when it comes to buying clothes or shoes... I would rather have better quality items and just less of them than settle for more affordable brands... I know, I know I am ridiculous! I sadly just don't always have the patience to be sifting through stores like Forever 21 or TJ Maxx - however, Target is a completely different story! I swear I think half of my wardrobe and sandals are by none other than Target... I am living la vida budget these days - and proud of it!

So... on to the big news - Cynthia Vincent (Twelfth Street - one of my favs!) is collaborating with Target on a line of affordable shoes! They are set to hit stores April 18th - yes only three days away! Best part about this whole phenomenon - prices range between $25 - $30... Yes, Please!!! So - low and behold I can stay on my budget and indulge in a pair of these lovlies... or maybe two!

Life just doesn't get much better than this! It will be a safe bet that I will be first in line at my Target come this Sunday!

Over-Priced Hefty Bag??

One of these can be yours at the price of $1960... well that and maybe your reputation!

I first came across one of the newest bags to join Louis Vuitton's family last week via The Purse Blog and to tell you the truth I have not been able to shake the image from my mind! From the first moment I saw the LV Raindrop Besace all I could think of was an over-priced hefty bag... I have allowed the image to sit in my mind for about a week now - thinking maybe I just couldn't appreciate the 'art' or 'couture' value in this new bag but after allowing time to pass I still just see a trash bag with a vintage Louis Vuitton label smacked on the front. My question is who in their right mind would pay close to $2000 for a bag that resembles something that the trash man picks up from your curb?? Louis Vuitton is typically known for their very much classic and refined style and has traded that all in on this collection for a stab at an ultra edgy and controversial design...

Overall... not a fan! This is one trend you can count me out of!

Falling Down a Rabbit Hole...

Sue Wong for Walt Disney
Sue Wong for Walt Disney
Stella McCartneyTom Binns
OPI

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Sorry I played hookie yesterday - Dylan got home on Sunday from Australia and took Monday off - so I figured my weekend would be extended as well :-)

On Sunday night we went and saw Alice in Wonderland in 3d! I have been wanting to see this for weeks. I was a huge fan of the Disney original when I was little so I couldn't wait to see the new spin on it. We loved it! I think it is definitely a movie you need to see in 3d - made the effects so much better!

I was totally smitten over the style and vibrant color schemes seen throughout the movie. I was in awe of the costumes adorned by each character - the costume designer truly outdid themselves in my eyes. Many designers are taking their own spin on the designs and trends seen in Wonderland... Sue Wong, OPI nail polish, Urban Decay, Stella McCartney, Tom Binns and Avril Lavigne for Kohl's! I am especially loving Sue Wong's designer dress collection - too many lovlies to choose from... good thing they are out of my budget!
I know I am a little late to jump on the Wonderland train since it took me a month to get to the theater... but better late than never right :-)

Friday Favorites...

Norakaren - $99
Hydra Heart - $48
Lunashoesuk's - $55
Taylor Says - $175
Tuto's - $50.00

I was watching the Today Show yesterday and they featured a segment about Toms Shoes. I don't know if it is because of the cause or that they are channeling the original Vans slipons... but I love Toms Shoes. For those of you that have been missing out on these fabulous little slippers... the creator of Toms (which is not the founders name but the shortened name for tomorrow) had a fantastic idea when visiting Argentina - he would create a brand of shoes (mimicking the simple shoes worn Argentina) and for every pair that you buy he in return would donate a pair to a needy child in Argentina! The concept was dubbed 'One for One'. How great is that?? You can be stylish and comfortable and help those less fortunate in another country! My kind of shopping - no buyers remorse here! The company has helped over 600,000 children in need of shoes since their launch date in 2006!

Anyways... getting back on subject - they were featured on the Today Show yesterday because Toms created the 'Day Without Shoes' movement... meaning they urged everyone to go without shoes yesterday, 4/08! You can check out the link above for different people's stories about their day without shoes.

So for my fabulous Friday favorites today I figured in honor of Toms I would scour Etsy for my favorite shoes!

Have fantastic weekend!
