Out With the Old = Shopping!

I spent most of the day working on my pieces for the dance team. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of them (I only have a few done... only ten more to go!) so I will probably post about them in the next few days...

After working... I realized Dylan gets home in just a few days (yayyyy!)... which means it is time to check my 'to do list' I was supposed to take care of while he was in Australia. I had been meaning to go through my closet for the past couple of weeks... but of course never managed to find the time. I figured this afternoon was as good as time as any! This is one of my least favorite things to do... I am somewhat of a hoarder when it comes to my clothes - it is really difficult for me to part with them... even if it is that dress I wore in college... many, many moons ago ;-) I am also a bit compulsive - my clothes must be in a strict organized order... color coordinated... tanks together, dresses together, skirts... and so on - yes, I have a problem! So it was a productive afternoon... I have a ton of fabulous duds to take down to Goodwill tomorrow morning and my closet is back in the order it should be... The one positive thing that comes with cleaning out my closet (besides the good feeling I get giving my clothes to Goodwill) is the fact that I make more room for new items! Out with the old in with the new!

Once I got in the cleaning mood... I moved onto the bathrooms... vacuum... kitchen... and laundry - once I start I just cant stop!

Friday eve! Yay!

Pink Flamingo!

I had another adventure in downtown LA with my friend Kim. We were both on the hunt for materials for our newest ideas. Kim is hurdling the lengthy process of starting her own event company. She has spent the last few months learning from someone else and has even had the opportunity to do a few weddings on her own. She is very talented and has a fabulous eye. She is almost ready to go out on her... which is very exciting! Kim is just finishing the details of her website and as soon as I get that I will pass it on :-)

So... we wandered the streets of LA for hours searching for the perfect fabrics for some of her table scapes... which I don't know if I am biased but are going to turn out amazing! I am making headbands for a dance team and needed specific colors/materials... which I was able to find them all in LA - so overall it was a very productive day for the two of us; however, extremely exhausting to say the least! We didn't get back down to San Diego until about 8pm... which was way too late for me to conquer this post that is why it is posted today... oops!

So stay tuned for what I will be creating from the materials above!

Carrie On

The countdown is officially on! We are all set to get 'Carried Away' very soon! For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past year... Sex and the City 2 is set to hit theaters May 28th and I couldn't be more excited! Anyone who knows me is fully aware of my scary obsession with the fashionista foursome! Every time I visit my lovely friends in NYC they are tiredly hearing about how this and that restaurant was featured on SATC (I should pretty much consider a job on the tour bus)... I know, I know I am obnoxious - but I jut cant help it... Patricia Field found a way to my heart with her elaborate couture along with the backdrop of the big city... I mean what is not to love... or more accurately envious of?? So anyways... as we inch closer to the big day please expect many obnoxious posts regarding my second love in life :-)

So ladies grab those cosmos and stilettos and 'Carrie On'... until May 28th that is...

Friday Favorites...

Swakdesigns - $35

BagatellesAndCo - $42

Tamar - $48

The Ardent Sparrow - $12

Wishing everyone a lovely Easter or Passover - or whatever else you celebrate this weekend. Here are a few of my favorite spring inspired items from Etsy this week. Enjoy the weekend!

Ps... A really funny story that I just had to share - Many of you may or may not know that here in California we have the law in place in which there is no cell phone use while driving which includes talking and texting; however, you are able to use hands free devices such as blue tooths. Well - one of my friends was driving on the freeway this morning and looked over and saw that the driver next to her had a rubber band around his head with his cell phone attached! Pretty freaking clever! I thought it was one of the funniest things I had ever heard and am just sorry that I didn't get to see this in person!

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Shop - Helping the Enviroment!

I am sure most of you have either seen or heard about H&M's recent launch of a totally environmentally conscious line, The Garden Collection. The entire collection was produced using only organic and recycled materials... so in theory you are sort of helping the environment by purchasing a bright, new dress for spring - right?! It launched March 25th and I have yet to see these lovlies in person! Oh and the best part about the line - you will be saving mucho green - everything is under $50!!! Now that is my type of 'green' fashion!

I am dying to get my paws on the red dress with rosettes... seriously - can you get any cuter for that price?? I think that may be my wedding go-to this season :-)

Let me know if you have tried any of these pieces of heaven on??

Fabulous Floral Finds...

Dolce Vita - $144
Joie - $128
Rebecca Taylor - $195
Free People - $128

I have always had a weird thing against floral prints - as I would definitely consider myself a girly girl - love shopping, clothes, nail polish, etc.; however, I have never been too into anything too over the top feminine such as florals or pinks. Boy has my mind changed this season! I am loving the florals (went shopping with my Mom today and picked up a lovely floral blouse... compliments of Momma!)! I cant seem to get enough of them - I cant remember a season when there have been so many different trends to follow - florals, stripes, military, sparkle - this spring is sure to be candy for the eye! Not going to lie - I am also sort of digging the idea of matching unexpected prints together... I have included a few of my favorite floral finds...

Pretty Stinkin Clever!

Can you believe this used to be a dress??

I came across probably one of the most clever things I have ever seen! A 'Do It Yourself' tutorial on how to turn your old bridesmaids dresses into throw pillows! I about died when I read the headline (could not picture it) and then clicked on the article and the pillow is actually pretty stinkin cute! Everyone has those bridesmaid dresses that you will never wear again - not that any of mine have been all that bad. It is just they are 'bridesmaidy' and most likely not going to be making any return appearances but I have always felt way to bad getting rid of them because all of them hold special memories of my best friends special days - so this is the perfect alternative! I can turn them into pillows for my house - or better yet re gift them to the brides ;-) Muuaahhahhhh!

Love of LC...

Floral Sheath Dress - on sale $41.99

Sequin Sheath Dress - on sale $39.99

Lace Skirt - on sale $29.99; Ruffled Dress - on sale $39.99

Welcome back from the weekend! Hope everyone had an enjoyable one... I sure did. The weather was great... spent time with friends, got the bronze on and even threw in a wedding shower for a family friend - all in all a fabulous weekend!

So... I have to embarrassingly admit that I have been an avid follower of Lauren Conrad (dubbed as LC) ever since she started her reality TV career on Laguna Beach on MTV - I then graduated to watching The Hills but ended my journey with the cheesy MTV reality series when she exited the show last year.

Anyways... I have been seeing numerous commercials lately for her new line at Kohl's. I finally went online today and checked it out and was pleasantly surprised. As I mentioned I was obsessed with following her life in Laguna and in LA but was sadly disappointed when she launched her brand a couple years ago - thought it was a bit over priced for mostly simple cotton clothing. Not so with her new line for Kohl's! I have never been in a Kohl's - I actually have to admit I don't even know where one is located but I may have to scout one out so I can see her line in person! The details of the clothing (from what I can see online) are fabulous - and for the price - cant be beat. Nothing is over $60 and a majority of the items I found online were highly marked down.

So - cheers to LC!
